Dori Raskin Bio

A highly experienced problem solver, good listener, and calming presence, Dori has acquired seasoned skills at apartment design, construction administration, and understanding her client’s needs.  She believes that design is infused in everything we do and is only at its best when client and architect reach the perfect collaboration.

Her residential experience began while interning in Atlanta for an architectural firm who mass-produced high end multi family residences. After absorbing space planning skills and construction techniques, she desired a career with more design focus.  Her inventive design skills and creativity landed her jobs with several prestigious firms in NYC such as Ennead Architects and Allied Works Architecture. Here she worked on several museum and gallery projects such as the Hayden Planetarium on Manhattan’s UWS and Allied Work's Dutchess County Residence in upstate New York. She went on to open DRd design where she designed, project managed and administrated over a dozen apartments in NYC and Florida.  Her later experience as a Project Manager and Construction Administrator for Design Within Reach stores in various US cities have made her equally proficient at commercial projects as residential.

Twenty years after her graduation, she earned the Young Architect Award given to an Alumni of the School of Architecture who have graduated within the past 20 years and have made significant design contributions in the architecture profession early in their careers. She is an active member of NCARB and is currently sitting for Architectural License Exam.

Her passion for pure form and innovative concepts in architecture made her an ardent teacher of first year architecture courses at both the University of Florida and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.  She is highly involved her daughter & son’s education and is a staunch believer that ones environment influences the way they learn.
